Coatings op implantaten mogelijk nuttig tegen ontstekingen

HALLE (SAALE), DUITSLAND – Een medisch implantaat kan chronische ontstekingsreacties veroorzaken, wat vervolgens kan leiden tot disfunctioneren van het apparaat. Om dit te voorkomen hebben onderzoekers van de Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) een nieuwe methode ontwikkeld om ontstekingsremmende stoffen op implantaten aan te brengen en zo ongewenste ontstekingsreacties in het lichaam te remmen. Deze nieuwe coatings zullen volgens de onderzoekers ook interessant zijn voor toepassingen in de tandheelkunde.
